Cisitalia, the brand name taken from the initials of Compagnia Industriale Sportiva Italia, is a sports car manufacturing company founded after World War II by Italian Piero Dusio, who made his fortune in the textile industry. Dusio's driving skills were such that he won his class in the 1937 Mille Miglia. Under him, he gathered Fiat's most talented engineers and world-renowned racing drivers such as Tazio Nuvolari and Piero Taruffi, and began planning the production of a commercial sports car using the know-how gained from race car manufacturing.

The 202C debuted in 1947. Using Fiat engines and parts, it was designed by master craftsman Battista "Pinin" Farina. The race car boasts an inline 4-cylinder 1,089cc engine that produces 55 horsepower all in a body of just 780 kilograms. The 202C reaches a top speed of 165 km/ h. During the 1947 Mille Miglia, the car raced fiercely against the Alfa Romeo "8C 2900B Berlinetta," but had some troubles and was narrowly defeated. Despite the loss, the 202C captured the 2nd, 3rd and 4th place positions.

In 1951, the 202C was chosen to star in the ‘Eight Automobiles’ exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, the only one Cisitalia left behind, becoming the first automobile to be part of MoMA’s permanent collection. The continuous curved surface design is superb, and significantly advanced even by today's standards. The 1947 Cisitalia 202C truly changed the concept of beauty of sports cars.

A total of about 100 Cisitalia 202Cs were manufactured. The car on display competed in the Mille Miglia in 1948 and in North American races from 1951 to 1954.
